Can’t log in into Karatbit because of 2FA? Here are several 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) problems and their solutions.

Problem 1
My Karatbit registration went through. But I am unable to access Karatbars authorization to link my account to Karatbit.
It states ‘You are not allowed to link your Account, please activate your 2Factor-Authentication (2FA)’
If you just registered for Karatbit, before you can access Karatbars Authorization, you need to activate 2 Factor Authentication (2FA). It’s a mandatory security feature. See how to activate 2FA here.
Then, to link your Karatbit to Karatbars account follow this tutorial.
Problem 2
I accidentally removed Google Authenticator app from my phone and now I can’t log in. What I can do?
It’s all good.
Simply email Karatbit at support@karatbit.com and ask them to disable 2FA code for your Karatbit account.
It may take 5-7 business days to get a reply due to large volume of questions — so a little patience .
Calling may be faster. Use +1 224 829 00 47 if you are in Canada or US. And in European Union or UK use +49 (0) 711 128 970 00.
1. Once 2FA is deactivated you will be able to log in into your account without having to enter 2FA code.
2. After you log in, while staying on the same page, scroll down and you will see “You are not allowed to place orders. Please activate your 2FA” message.
3. Then download Google Authenticator app on your phone again. Then, to re-activate 2FA follow this tutorial.
If you want to transfer KBC or KCB coins to your Karatbit account…
… and you have your coins in some other exchange or wallet, then mention that in your email to Karatbit. So that you can do the transfer before December 16, 2019.

To transfer coins, you just need your Karatbit address — no need to log in. (Your Karatbit address is called ‘KBC Deposit Address’ on this picture).

To look up your Karatbit address without logging into Karatbit, look through any deposits to Karatbit you did in the past.

Depending where you have your coins, to look up past transactions without logging anywhere, you can use Ethplorer.

If you haven’t done any transactions, then mention in your email to Karabit that you need to know your Karatbit address. So that you can transfer coins before December 15.
Problem 3
When I’m entering 2FA code, it says that it’s wrong but I am entering it correctly.
I had the same problem.
If you entered the code more than 10 times, then the code you are entering may not be associated with your account.
If you use Google Authenticator for several accounts, are you sure that this code is associated with this Karatbit account?
If you are sure, than I’d clear cookies and try entering the code again.
If it doesn’t work:
1. Then I’d email Karatbit at support@karatbit.com and ask them to disable 2FA code for your Karatbit account.
2. Then re-install Google Authenticator app on your phone.
3. Then log in into your Karatbit account once Karatbit deactivated your 2FA.
4. After that, just re-activate 2FA and you should be good to go.

HI…everytime I enter my newly generated code, I get a “Two-Factor Secret is wrong message”.
I have refreshed the page, scanned a new barcode and tried again several times….same message….

Did you go through the steps in Problem 3 above?
Instead of emailing Karatbit, call them tomorrow and ask to disable your 2FA (follow the steps in Problem 3):

Hi….I have requested to disable my 2FA code before the of 4th January doors to close to swamp my KCB now l bag to add more time so that some of our problems can be worked.

Depending on when you requested it… Karatbit may take time to disable your 2FA.
Given that so many people have trouble accessing their Karatbit account, the January 4th deadline may be extended, but that’s just my thoughts.
I know that either way everything will turn out good for you.

Sounds like the code you are entering may not be associated with your Karatbit account.
If you use Google Authenticator for several other accounts, are you sure that this code is associated with this particular Karatbit account?
(Also, try to clear cookies).

3. Your Skype Username (if you don’t own a Skype account, please create one).

Please note, the code below is vital for your 2FA recovery! Does the code really matter when putting in the secret code from the authenticator in order to activate ?I accidentally refreshed the page which changed the code before activating and i didnt copy it.
Am thinking the code should correspond with the secret,maybe that’s the reason its been failing.

Are you talking about 2FA recovery code or 2FA secret code generated by the app every 60 seconds?
There is only one 2FA recovery code, which is given to you when you are in a process of downloading the app and activating 2FA.
While 2FA secret code generated by the app changes every 60 seconds, and that’s the code you need to enter every time you want to log in into Karatbit.

It’s useful if you want to recover 2FA in case something happens with your phone/app.
In case something happens with your phone/app you can ask Karatbars to deactivate 2FA for you and all should be fine 🙂

If you use 2FA for more than one account: Are you sure you are entering 2FA that is associated with that particular Karatbit account?
If you are sure then you will have to ask Karatbit to deactivate 2FA for you, which will require the following 3 things from you:
1. Copy of your ID card (a secondary identification document can be required)
2. A selfie with you holding your ID card
3. Your Skype Username (if you don’t own a Skype account, please create one).
