Below you will learn how to recover 2FA in your Karatbit / Karatbars account.
If you lost or damaged your phone, or accidentally removed 2FA Google Authenticator app from your phone, the tutorial below is for you.
How to recover your 2FA
When you first set up 2FA, you received a backup code (See Screenshot #1 below; in red letters)

Did you write down the backup code? If yes, use it to recover 2FA.
If you didn’t write it down, follow directions in the CryptoDad video below to recover 2FA.
Ask Karatbit / Karatbars to deactivate 2FA
If you followed directions in the above video but were not able to recover 2FA:
Then you will have to ask Karatbit / Karatbars to deactivate 2FA for you, which will require the following 3 things from you:
1. Copy of your ID card (a secondary identification document can be required)
2. A selfie with you holding your ID card
3. Your Skype Username (if you don’t own a Skype account, please create one).
Above measures may sound a bit too much, however that’s all for security sake.
Karatbit or Karatbars staff needs to make sure that you are a real owner of the account.
Beware: The minute your 2FA is deactivated, your account becomes vulnerable to all kinds of phishing scams and hacker attacks. So you want to reactivate 2FA as soon as you can (see below).
To deacivate 2FA in Karatbit, send the above 3 things to support@karatbit.com.
To deactivate 2FA in Karatbars, send the above 3 things to support@karatbars.com.
After your 2FA got deactivated, follow the steps below
1. Once 2FA is deactivated you will be able to log in into your account without having to enter 2FA code.
2. After you log in, while staying on the same page, scroll down and click on the link in“You are not allowed to place orders. Please activate your 2FA” message.
3. You will be taken to a page with directions how to reactivate your 2FA. To do it, you can also follow this tutorial.

I’m looking into where you should input this code.
In Karatbit people have a 32-character backup code, yes, which is a bit different from what is described by the CryptoDad video I provided above.
Jan 13 deadline may be extended again given that many people have trouble with 2FA (that’s what I’m thinking)
When I figure out how do recover 2FA with that 32-character backup code I’ll publish a post on this and you will get notified.

Sure I got the tutorials so, my needs to be deactivated and I had sent ( copy of ID , selfie with ID holding and my Skype surname ) everything they request since on the 7th but nothing as a feedback , even sometimes I’m trying to phone but phone ☎️ all rings busy the same as today.. why sister ?

I would like to inform you that on 24-DEC-2019 i tried to login my karatbit account but unfortunately not able to login due to i sold my phone and did not remember 2FA security, i contacted karatbit support team for long time and sent several emails but no one reply even i asked them the deadline of KCB change to KBC till today i did not receive any reply or deactivate my 2FA from karatbit account now my concern is how i will change my KCB to KBC if support tema not reply my this is not my fault even i provided the require documents

Yes, that’s frustrating, Karatbars support needs to be improved, and yes, you did your part.
To deactivate 2FA, send these 3 documents to support@karatbit.com again:
1. Copy of your ID card (a secondary identification document can be required)
2. A selfie with you holding your ID card
3. Your Skype Username (if you don’t own a Skype account, please create one).
Yet, at the same time, Karatbars staff has been very busy with the hard fork and many people were doing the linking and having 2FA issues in the last minute.
Have you linked your Karatbit to Karatbars account in the past? If you did, then you are done.
If you haven’t linked, do the linking whenever you are able to login to your Karatbit account. You still have 5 months to do the linking.
Once you link them, Karatbars staff will transfer the coins to your Karatbit account.
At this time (the deadline was Jan 13), all KCB coins that get transferred to Karatbit will go towards Gold Standard Bank shares (GSB IPO vouchers). Which may turn even better than if you were to convert your KCB to KBC coins. Everything is ultimately happening for our own good!
